Priyanka Chopra was born to Ashok Chopra and Madhu Akhauri, in Jamshedpur, Jharkhand. Her parents are physicians by profession. Though she was born in Jamshedpur she spent her childhood days in various places which include Bareilly, Uttar Pradesh; Newton, Massachusetts; and Cedar Rapids, Iowa.
She also has a brother, Siddharth, who is seven years younger to her.
The frequent re-locations took place as her father was a physician in the Indian Army. She subsequently re-located to the U.S. where she studied in Newton South High School in Newton, Massachusetts and then in John F. Kennedy High School in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. She returned to India and did her high school at Army School in Bareilly
She began college at Jai Hind College in Mumbai but left after winning the Miss World pageant.
Being a North India she started her career in South Film Industry. In 2002 she starred in a Tamil film Tamhizhan opposite Vijay. She couldn't make her presence felt in this film.
She appeared in Bollywood for the first time in Sunny Deol's The Hero: Love Story Of A Spy. Even her debut film in Bollywood didn' work for her.
Priyanka was born on July 18, 1982, in the Chopra family consisting of her dad, Dr. Ashok and mom, Dr. Madhu (nee Akhauri), and has one younger brother. Her dad is Punjabi-speaking, while her mom is from Bihar. As a child, she suffered from Asthma and was very close to her dad. Her family affectionately called her Mimi.
While she was born in Jamshedpur, Jharkhand, she also spent her childhood in Bareilly, in Uttar Pradesh as well as in Lucknow, where she was enrolled in the La Martiniere Girls' School. These frequent re-locations took place as Ashok was a doctor in the Indian Army. She subsequently re-located to the U.S. where she studied in Newton's Newton North High School and then in Cedar Rapid's John F. Kennedy High School in Massachusetts and Iowa respectively.
In 2000 she returned to India and enrolled in Jai Hind College and Basant Singh Institute of Science in Churchgate, Bombay, but had to leave abruptly as she was crowned Miss India. She was subsequently crowned Miss World in the same year - a year which proved to be a year for Indian Beauty Queens - as Lara Dutta and Dia Mirza were also crowned Miss Universe and Miss Asia Pacific respectively. Ironically, beauty pageants are banned in India's conservative state, Uttar Pradesh.
She made a mark in Bollywood with her negative role in Aitraaz (2003). Since then there was no looking back for her. She was noticed by one and all in Aitraaz. After this she had loads of films in her kitty which includes Plan, kismet, Blackmail, Karam, Waqt, Bluffmaster, and many more. It was Raksh Roshan's Krrish which again brought her to the limelight.
Recently she won the National Film Award for Best Actress for her role in Fashion (2008).
Besides, Bollywood she was also the face of the Television Industry. She hosted Khatron Ke Khiladi Level 3 in Colors.
She is one actress in Bollywood who has maximum big films in her kitty as off know. Her much awaited big budget film Don 2 is yet to release. Apart from this film she is presently filming for Anurag Basu's Barfee and Karan Johar's Agneepath along with Kunal Kohli's Untitled film. While, Krrish 2 is yet to go on floors.

She has been often linked up with the chocolate boy Shahid Kapoor. There love game started when she was working with Shahid Kapoor in Kaminey. Though there stock reply has always been "We are just good friends". It's heard that currently they both are not in talking terms and has eventually broke up.
